Earlier this week the Caribbean editor for the International Journalists Network (IJNET), an offshoot of the International Centre for Journalists (ICFJ), contacted Caribbean Magazine Plus (CMP)/Arawak Media to find out who was behind the Poetry Contest initiative for the region and Caribbean/Central American diaspora.

After our editor having spoken to Ms Deandre Williamson, opportunities editor for IJNET, she was satisfied that the CMP was in good hands and said that “we’re going a good thing.” To that we are very much obliged.

The Caribbean Magazine Plus is happy to make friends and join with the IJNET, as they have opened up their hands of friendship to our small and fledgling, online publication.

The ICFJ has gone further and placed our Poetry Contest notification on their website for their audience to be able to take part in it as well. We are doubly thankful.

Not only the Poetry Contest was of interest, but CMP’s layout and how we present fair and balanced coverage of issues was also taken note of, which is more important to us than any revenue generating initiative that we have now or any that is up coming.

We are thankful the ICFJ reached out to us as it means that we are gaining some attention for our efforts in doing what we said we were going to do, bridge the gap between the countries and find means to keep Caribbean people engaged and informed with what’s happening with their people.
