A large protest turned violent as police in Dominica clashed with bus drivers this week, one man shot with rubber bullet taken away after clash.

As bus drivers continue to protest over what they consider to be unfair conditions and a lack of assistance from government, at least one individual has been shot by police, according to reports.

The incident occurred close to the twin bridges in the vicinity of Auto Trade at Canefield in Dominica.

An eye witness told DNO that a police officer entered the bus of one of the protestors and attempted to move the vehicle which resulted in a scuffle between police officers and bus drivers.

Caribbean Magazine Plus reached out to Dominica Police Headquarters to find out the name of the officer in the shooting as well as other information, but was told by the police press liaison that the commissioner of police will be releasing a statement on the matter very soon and that we should wait on that.

This is the second incidence of police brutality in Dominica in as many months. Last month, police were caught on camera picking a fight with another protester at a protest for a jailed vlogger on spying charges.
