Letter to the Editor: Queen Elizabeth II should be aware of the travesty in The Bahamas

March 23, 2022.

Her Majesty The Queen,

Buckingham Palace,

London SW1A 1AA,

England.

Your Majesty,

I wish to alert Your Majesty of travesty occurring in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas; I write with extreme concern. Crown Land has been placed in the hands of the Government of The Bahamas, by Your Majesty, in trust, to exercise care and control, with the fiduciary responsibility to utilize the Crown Land for the benefit of Bahamians.

I wish to formally advise you that the Government of The Bahamas appear to merely be dishing it out to foreign “investors” and shunning legitimate Bahamian investors.

The Government of The Bahamas have demonstrated their irresponsible behavior by facilitating requests for Crown Land by foreigners without delay while they make it clear that Bahamians must form a different, segregated queue. Being subject to this segregation and as a Bahamian I bring my concern to Your Majesty, having been granted a Crown Land Lease by ex-PM Hubert Minnis, after eight years of begging, only for him to double deal the same Crown Land to Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.

I sincerely hope the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have a fantastic experience in The Bahamas and the opportunity to at least glimpse the Paradise “Hog” Island Lighthouse; the oldest lighthouse in the West Indies.  I wish Your Majesty congratulations on the 70th Anniversary of Your Majesty’s reign.

Sincerely yours,

Captain Toby C.S. Smith.
