The Commonwealth Short Story Prize winner heads to Buckingham Palace this winter to meet with the Queen Consort about his winning this year’s contest and where the Caribbean should go with regard to literature.

Kwame MA McPherson, told Caribbean Magazine Plus that he is excited to be headed back to the United Kingdom, but this time to meet members of the Royal Family about his winning the overall Commonwealth Short Story contest for 2023. “I leave for November and the plan is to meet with the Queen Consort about the contest.”

After winning the contest and beating over 6,000 other entrants from around the Commonwealth Realm, Kwame has remained busy by launching his own education series on writing and storytelling that he endeavours to keep at a global level for anyone who is interested in how to write better stories and particularly, prize winning content.

The Jamaican born author also said: I’ve been getting a lot of interest from Africa as well as from the wider Caribbean and it just to show people how I actually achieved what I had achieved.

“It’s so intense but it is to give people hope that they can now go out and write stories and then also has me as a coach because there is three stages. The first is an information session and the second is a webinar and is a little more detailed, sharing with you how to go about writing for a global competition and the third and final one is coaching.”

All of this to get his initial participants to a point where they can feel comfortable about writing stories where they can enter them into contests and be recognized for their passion and talent.

The first open session took place this past Thursday and another will happen next week Thursday, 28th of September. “Thirty people showed up to the first session, so we want to build that up as we go along, Kwame said.

The first sessions are free to join for anyone from any part of the world, but as you get to the third stage where Kwame gets more involved with your writing process, nominal fees will begin to apply.

As Kwame embarks on this new turn in his writing career he still remains keen to writing his own stories as he has an offering in the works he will be releasing in the next few months.
