CEO Lauds Efforts To Increase Employment In Suriname

A significant loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) demonstrates the government’s commitment to ensuring the Surinamese people are gainfully employed, said the CEO of a regional recruitment service.

Caribbean Employment Services Inc. is a market-leading digital talent acquisition service that aims to connect the top talent from the Caribbean with hiring managers, HR professionals and decision-makers in companies both within the Caribbean as well as abroad. Further, it aims to provide the region’s jobseekers and those who are already employed with news and resources related to Caribbean labour.

“This US$10 million loan is an enormous show of commitment to making sure citizens can find jobs, provide for their families and make a decent living,” said Joseph Boll, Caribbean Employment Services Inc. CEO. “Whether it’s helping people find jobs available to them or helping to equip them with the skills needed to become employable, these efforts being undertaken will certainly augur well for the nation’s future.”

The IDB’s loan has a multifold purpose. It aims to support a targeted job training programme that will ensure Surinamese are skilled to fill existing and anticipated job vacancies. Similar programmes have begun in other countries throughout the region, with Bermuda just recently launching such an initiative. These kinds of programmes are expected to address labour issues that have persisted in the Caribbean for generations, such as a labour market skills gap, brain drain and tension over foreign workers being hired for high-earning positions.

In addition, the loan aims to bolster support of the Department of Labour’s mediation service, which functions similarly to Caribbean Employment Services Inc. CEO Boll reminded the public that they can also access his organization’s online jobs board and talent acquisition service in their search for the best jobs or employees.

“We commend and support the government’s efforts to secure jobs for its people,” said Boll. “But residents also don’t have to put all of their eggs in one basket in this respect. You are certainly welcome and able to use Caribbean Employment Services Inc. for your jobseeking and/or recruitment efforts even alongside the Department of Labour’s services.”
