ARTIST HIGHLIGHT OF THE MONTH: SHERI ANN MARIE NICHOLLS

December 15, 2023

Sheri Ann Marié Nicholls is a born and bred Barbadian artist, having grown up in the countryside and next to the sea, her love for the outdoors shows tremendously in her work.

Throughout her life, she has always been fascinated by the images of boats, the Barbadian landscape and how these worlds and the things they touch are represented.

She loves the idea of presenting her experiences of country life through her paintings, evoking the viewer with nostalgic emotions of by-gone days, its past-times and traditions and the contradictions, such subject matter can present with its existence with modern times.  AnnMarié works predominantly in oils, acrylic, watecolour and mixed mediums.

AnnMarié is a graduate of the Barbados Community College with an Assoicate Degree in Visual Arts and a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts Studio Arts specialisation. She is a recipient of a scholarship from the St. Lawrence School in Canada and a Gold Medal winner and scholarship recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award and “best in show” in the Crop Over Visual Arts Exhibition.

She has been featured in the Easy magazine (Barbados Nation newspaper publication) and United Karibean Artist (UKA) (French Caribbean society media project/publication) and has exhibited in numerous group shows and solo exhibitions.

Her works can be found in local and international collections.
