We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Guyanese People’s Progressive Party candidate, Daniel Williams, who collapsed while on the campaign stump.
His passing must have been a shock to all who witnessed it as he was looking extremely fit and strong prior to picking up the microphone to begin delivering his speech.
This only underscores that the political arena is a very trying one. Most times we hear of politicians dying from violence or violently falling ill and passing after a few days or weeks. But this is the first time in Caribbean memory, at least as far as this magazine has scoured, that a politician died during the middle of his speech.
We can only again express our heartfelt condolences to the Williams family and also God’s speed to his remaining colleagues in the PPP.
Be safe.
