We have to remember that we live with the same leaders in place as before the King came. Nothing much has changed.
Sure, we had some rabble rousers making noise about reparations to take our mind off of the problems we have in our region, and that’s fine. But never forget that we have to get back to the business of nation building for the people we have with what we’ve got.
We appreciate King Charles coming to pay the Caribbean a visit. We thank him for acknowledging slavery and we hope something tangible comes from the United Kingdom parliament on the matter.
We also appreciate King Charles’s commitment to using the Commonwealth Secretariat to continually develop the former UK colonies through the various developmental programmes that have been employed over the decades.
We pray that the King lives long and healthy and reminded that we will continue this journey together as human beings, equal and all deserving of respect and a firm acknowledgement of our commitments to one another.
