A popular and recently released vlogger in Dominica speaks out against threats on social media against him about why he was in custody and how he should “watch himself” and his comments on his social media pages.

Lynworth (Mystelics) Mitchell, a popular Dominican vlogger and social media personality, spoke about about his recent arrest and release from jail on charges of espionage and his captured drone that happened to land not far from Prime Minister Roosevelt Skeritt’s home and that of the Chinese Embasssy in Dominica.

Mitchell addressed comments on his social media pages, where one person under a pseudonym named “Maniac” warned him to “watch what you say on Facebook… its not over yet… u will run your mouth and we will come back 4 you…”

See Mitchell’s YouTube page for his reaction to these threats:

Mitchell and his partner, videographer/photographer Jawanza Stuart, were released from custody on Saturday March 6, having spent two days in jail and being questioned by the authorities in Dominca about what they were doing with drones circling the Prime Ministers home and the Chinese Embassy that is adjacent in the area of Morne Daniel.

Mitchell said however that he had to shoot a video in the area of Dublanc and was further “contracted to do a vide in Morne Daniel for a lady,” but he is unclear on who the lady is because he was matched up with this “lady” through his contact for the video he was originally supposed to shoot in Dublanc.

He also said that he didn’t care where the Prime Minister’s residence was and didn’t care to know where it was and it was merely coincidental that the lady’s house he was contracted to shoot that the Prime Minister’s residence was about 100 meters away from the property.

Mitchell and Stuart were released without charge with Mitchell further stating that he was unclear under which charges he was arrested, but stated that he was told by the police that it was for suspicion and later it was to be upgraded to espionage.

Prime Minister Skerrit has also come out after the two men’s release and said that these types of behaviour constitute espionage in some parts of the world and pointed to Washington DC where there is a “no fly zone” for all aircraft not authorised by the federal government.

He also blamed the opposition party for not showing leadership in the face of a breach in security.
