A MORNING DEVOTION

October 15,  2026                                            Year 6:Day 220

To God, the only God who saves us through Jesus Christ our Lord, be the glory, majesty, authority and power, which he had before time began, now and forever.                                                                             Jude   25

CPWI   381   Praise The Lord! Ye Heav’ns…

1 Praise the Lord! ye heav’ns, adore him;

Praise him angels, in the height;

Sun and moon, rejoice before him;

Praise him, all ye stars of light.

Praise the Lord! for he has spoken;

Worlds his mighty voice obeyed;

Laws which never shall be broken

For their guidance he has made.

2 Praise the Lord! for he is glorious;

Never shall his promise fail;

God has made his saints victorious;

Sin and death shall not prevail.

Praise the God of our salvation!

Hosts on high his pow’r proclaim;

Heav’n, and earth, and all creation,

Laud and magnify his name.

Hear us O Lord.

For your mercy is great.

We will exalt you, O God  our Saviour.

And praise your name for ever and ever.

Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit

As it was in the beginning is now;  and shall be forever. Amen.

Father, we come together in the Name of your Son Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, to offer you our worship, praise and thanksgiving. To you belong all power and glory. You are the source of all goodness. Let our worship bear witness to your peace and saving power. Through your Spirit may we ever rejoice in the abiding presence of our risen and ascended Lord.              Amen.

Psalm                                       34:8 – 15

8 O taste and see that the Lord is good;

happy are those who take refuge in him.

9 O fear the Lord, you his holy ones,

for those who fear him have no want.

10 The young lions suffer want and hunger,

but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

11 Come, O children, listen to me;

I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

12 Which of you desires life and covets many days to enjoy good?

13 Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit.

14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,

and his ears are open to their cry.

GLORIA

A READING:              Titus 2:6-8,  11-14

6 … Urge the younger men to be self-controlled. 7 Show yourself in all respects a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, gravity, 8 and sound speech that cannot be censured; then any opponent will be put to shame, having nothing evil to say of us.

11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all, 12 training us to renounce impiety and worldly passions, and in the present age to live lives that are self-controlled, upright, and godly, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope and the manifestation of the glory of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ. 14 He it is who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify for himself a people of his own who are zealous for good deeds.

The Word of the Lord.               Thanks be to GOD.

  […that we may continually be given to good works…

St Paul’s instructions to timothy and Titus were intended to guide both the development of his young pastors and their congregations. There is an unusual tenderness and sensitivity while he delivers life changing doctrine, that has stood the test of time. In the end, character, Christian character, is the product, and its witness has never failed to add souls to the Kingdom of God…

…Which of you desires life and covets many days to enjoy good?

 Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit…]

                                    THE PRAYERS:

The Lord be with you

And also with you.

            And now as our Saviour has taught us, let us pray

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come, your will be done,

on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins

as we forgive those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation

but deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power,

and the glory are yours now and for ever.    Amen.

V. Save your people, Lord, and bless your inheritance;

R. Govern and uphold them, now and always.

V. Day by day we bless you;

R. We praise your Name for ever.

V. Lord, keep us from all sin today;

R. Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy.

V. Lord, show us your love and mercy;

R. For we put our trust in you.

V. In you, Lord, is our hope;

R. And we shall never hope in vain.

 COLLECT                   PROPER  23

Lord, we pray that your grace may always precede and follow us, that we may continually be given to good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.                          Amen.

May the strength of God pilot us. May the power of God preserve us. May the wisdom of God instruct us. May the hand of God protect us.

May the way of God direct us.

May the shield of God defend us.

May the host of God guard us against the snares of evil and the temptations of the world. May Christ be with us, Christ before us,

Christ in us, Christ over us.

May your Salvation, O Lord, be always ours this day and for evermore. Amen.

            Sweet Jesus, Sweet Jesus,

            What a wonder You are!

            You are brighter than the morning star.

            You’re fairer, much fairer

            Than the lily that grows by the way side.

            You’re precious, more precious than gold.

 The Dismissal:

 Glory to God whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine: Glory to him from generation to generation in the Church, and in Christ Jesus for ever and ever.  Amen.  Ephesians 3:20,21

The Lord be with you

And also with you.

Let us bless the Lord.

Thanks be to God.
