Caribbean Cement Company (Carib Cement) could resume regional exports as early as September 2026 following increased production capacity at its Rockfort plant in Kingston, Jamaica.
The company is considering exports to the Cayman Islands and The Bahamas, although Managing Director Jorge Martinez said meeting Jamaican demand would remain its priority.
“With our new enhanced capacity, we have the capacity not only to serve the entire local market but also to export some surpluses,” Mr Martinez told shareholders at the company’s AGM.
Carib Cement invested JMD4.6bn (US$28.7m) across 44 capital projects in 2025, including JMD2.7bn on its kiln expansion and JMD640m on replacing the K5 stack. Other investments included a new tyre shredder and additional equipment.
The producer restarted regional exports in January but subsequently suspended shipments after domestic supplies tightened during April and May. Additional cement was sourced through Cemex Bahamas while available domestic production was redirected to the Jamaican market.
