The People’s Republic of China may as well get used to the fact that it is effecivtly out of the Panama Canal and under the Donald Trump administration, they will never return.
The recent events of the US signing a joint declaration with five other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean to denounce China’s new assault on Panama should show them that there is very little that can be done in any regard to getting property they believe was misappropriated from them in the Panama Canal zone.
The Trump administration is taking no prisoners in the LAC with regard to China’s influence. I have no clue why America has such a distrust for the Chinese when they have shown no aggression initially and have done and probably is doing the same thing every European country with means is doing or did to the US and that is spy on them and work feverishly to control their government through subvert means.
But all of that aside, it is clear that the American policy towards China working in the LAC has taken a hard turn. There will be zero to no tolerance of Chinese investments and these friendship loans and grants.
