Canada-based Dancehall artist Razor B is set to drop a new banger for the ladies, declaring it’s ‘Bad Gal Time’ now. Produced by Polabeatz out of the UK alongside Picante Music based in the Kingston 20 community of Duhaney Park, the anticipation is already building up to its May 21st release date.
With DJs all over the world including Sir DJ Ken in the UK and Spex Da Boss in Canada previewing the track on various radio stations and online platforms, ‘Bad Gal Time’ is sure to be a success. Born Roger Cassup in Portmore before migrating to Toronto, Razor B has had major hits like ‘Hot Up’, ‘Bruk Fi Mi Back’ and ‘Up In Deh’ take him on tours around the world. However, his approach to the promotion of ‘Bad Gal Time’ will be done in a completely different way, not as a renowned artist but as a new artist just about to enter the dancehall music scene.
“I’m approaching this like a new artist, who’s hungry and uncomfortable,” said Razor B.
“Like mi nuh buss yet, so me and the team a go all out for this one in some innovative ways. Just watch and see,” he continued.
Polabeatz, a St Thomas native is an Epik Sound DJ turned producer. He manages artists and writes songs as well. His focus is now being placed heavily on ’Bad Gal Time’ and returning Razor B to the top.
“I’ve known Razor B a long time now, and even brought him around England while he was on tour here. Naturally, I had to produce a song with him and knew straightaway that ‘Bad Gal Time’ would be the perfect fit,” Polabeatz told this writer.
The ‘Bad Gal Time’ promotional team also includes Epik Jones, a fellow St Thomas DJ in the UK from Epik Sound, Razor B’s daughter, Phelisha Cassup, as his manager and Lesley Hayles, the Kingston-based PR in charge of publicity. However, everyone will collectively be contributing to the overall marketing of ‘Bad Gal Time’ utilizing their own individual avenues.
The music video was shot in various locations in Kingston and will be released on Thursday as well. Get ready ladies: a ‘Bad Gal Time’!
