We go to church and move around shaking hands saying – “Peace be unto you my brother,” “Peace be unto you my sister.” We sing with loud confidence – “Let there be Peace on earth and let it begin with me.”
Here are my reflections or thoughts after scanning what has been happening around the world at large:
Peace will come when people live in friendship side by side;
And cherish understanding
More than hatred, greed and pride.
Peace will come when people see
All people as the same;
And no one has to live in fear, In ignorance or shame.
Peace will come when people
Learn to listen and to care; About the right and dignity Of people everywhere.
Peace will come when people
Who are needy can reach out; For shelter, food and love, et al, And no one goes without.
Peace will come when ethnicity is no longer a big deal;
When the “All Ah We Is One” syndrome Is not just talk …but real.
Peace will come when religions are not divided as they are;
When Pastor, Pundit, Iman and Priest Share that ‘ONE LOVE’- near and far.
Peace will come when Justice is metered out to ALL; And not just to a chosen few, But to both BIG and SMALL.
Peace will come when jealousy And envy are not so pronounced: When hate, and greed, and bigotry, And all such are denounced.
Peace will come when the dollar sign
Is not all that we see; But genuine love for all people, Living with respect in harmony.
Peace will come when the truth be told,
And fake news are not so widespread; When BIG PHARMA and all such companies, Start pushing a level head.
Peace will come to all of us,
When the powerful and the rich,
Stop looking down on the rest of us, And be ready to make that switch.
Peace will come when the power love
Supersedes the love of power;
When status and positions reflect peace from above, And nations fight to unite in honour.
Peace will come when love and trust,
And kindness promote rebirth;
When that day comes, ALL people Will revel in PEACE on earth.
