An established modelling agency out of the US Virgin Islands (USVI) is planning a big trip to the Big Apple this month and has delivered on finding his models top positions in major markets throughout the US.
Jason Gardener, chief executive officer of JG Management in the USVI, told Caribbean Magazine Plus that he has been in the modelling business for over three decades, having started out as a model with Cyndees Models in the Isles Modelling Agency in the Isles STX. He was born and raised in St Croix USVI then moved to New York to pursue his career and then moved back home to St Croix.
Jason’s interest in fashion was realized at a very young age. Born and raised on the island of St Croix USVI, his love and appreciation for the arts, specifically fashion, earned him a distinct reputation amongst islanders. As a former Top model of the prominent Cyndee’s Models in the Isles STX, Jason was the first Top Male Model of the USVI.
JG Management USVI, is a full service management company based in St Croix that offers training, development and placement for models, actors and talent worldwide.
Jason also said: “Our models are generally found in the USVI, British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, the US and throughout the wider Caribbean. I really want to visit more Caribbean islands to scout and do workshops.”
Currently St Croix is home to several brands that Jason manages from the “kids ROCK fashion weekEND USVI, the VI Model of the Year Competition, St. Croix STYLE Fashion Week and the JG Centre of Excellence non-profit.” Jason is also the chair of the “Miss St Croix Festival Queen Pageant” and also owns “STYLED By Jason Gardener.”
Jason also said: We’re traveling to New York July 7-19 to visit different modelling and talent agencies in hopes of our models getting signed. Every July I take the winners of the VI Model of the Year Competition to New York along with some of our top models / talent. While in NYC, they do photo shoots, workshops and of course have a great time. “
He added: “We’ve been preparing since January of this year. We focus on photo posing, runway technique, go-sees preparation and studying the industry. “
The COVID-19 restrictions on St Croix has not stopped him as it only “slowed him down” but he was still working behind the scenes in preparation for when the island reopened for business.
Jason’s models can be found everywhere, from New Yok, to Los Angeles to Miami and Atlanta. He added: “Aside from impeccable training and personal development, the ones that are here for opportunities they expect to get signed with agencies in all of the major markets. We’ve had lots of success stories.
He added, “I’m very optimistic that things will get back to normal as it already has started to. We’re seeing more and more a diverse group of models working today which is always great to see. Lol I have a yearly training program so we have training sessions weekly for all forms of modelling, acting, photo posing, public speaking, personal development and social skills. This way they stay focus on their goals and dreams.”
