US Secretary of State Marco Rubio let it all fly against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro by essentially calling him the leader of a drug cartel in Venezuela, Cartel de los Soles or Cartel of the Sun.
Dissidents of Venezuela have long since blown the whistle on the criminal nature of the Maduro regime, but no one has been able to move him and his minions from power.
We hope that the sharp rebuke from Rubio will bring more pressure to bear on Venezuela and its people for them to turn away from the failed Maduro regime and come to embrace a better way forward for their country.
We are also hoping that Maduro will see and feel that being in charge of a country that has failed is no fun and that he would want to relinquish power. This is a dream, but we can only hope.
