Former Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands, Michael Misick, has been thoroughly humiliated and disgraced. To be sentenced to jail time in the country you once was the chief executive of must come as a total shock.
The thing is the TCI is still a British Protectorate and Misick was not really in full control of the TCI. He was a caretaker at best. As a result, the British government had to remind him of his manners and duty.
But the entire affair with Misick was disgraceful. Not only did not wife, Lisa Rae, up and left him before the hammer fell on his regime, he ran away to Brazil to beg for asylum from the authorities in TCI and the United Kingdom- which, obviously, was not granted.
May this be a lesson to leaders in protectorate at least, countries like the TCI, Anguilla, Bermuda, Martinique and the Dutch Sint Maarten, be on your best behaviour because there is little tolerance for you when you abuse the public purse.
