EDITORIAL: Did President Trump make a mistake in attacking Iran?

April 7, 2026

The war in Iran is not an easy one. People assume that US President Donald Trump assumed that decapitating the leadership of Iran would mean a soon and sudden change in the regime in Iran.

I for one don’t believe that President Trump believed that at all. I think he probably did understand that Iran won’t topple over as easy as Iraq did under former US President GW Bush in 2003, but he is surprised that the remainder of the Iranian regime is willing to fight a losing battle against an enemy that clearly has the upper hand.

We were under the impression that only the select few elites in the Iranian government were deluded into believing that they had a chance against resisting the US in any way, shape or form. No one could believe that even the “middle managers,” had a feeling of superiority as if King Cyrus, Darius or Xerxes were at the helm in this season.

I guess the Trump administration, must keep bombing them, all the way down to the clerical administrative officer. Which is very unfortunate that so much pride would lead people to be so blind to the point that they believe they would have any chance at winning a war against the US. It is a fool’s run to believe that they can.

What will happen is the Trump administration will continue to bomb Iran and then naval vessels into the Strait of Hormuz to stabilise it and if anyone dares attack any of those vessels- speaking directly to China and Russia- all hell will break loose.

What I believe the people who are with Iran don’t understand that this attack is well beyond the mentality and action of President Donald Trump. It is sad that many Iranians will have to die because of some middle managers waiting to assume leadership in the power vacuum left by the assassination of the Ayatollah and his cohorts.
