Let us lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, Hebrews 12:1

Psalm: 33:8, 12, 18-22
8 Let all the earth fear the Lord;
let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
12 Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people whom he has chosen as his heritage.
18 Truly the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,
on those who hope in his steadfast love,
19 to deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive in famine.
20 Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and shield.
21 Our heart is glad in him because we trust in his holy name.

A READING: Proverbs 1:20-22, 27 – 33
20 Wisdom cries out in the street;
in the squares she raises her voice.
21 At the busiest corner she cries out;
at the entrance of the city gates she speaks:
22 “How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple?
How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing
and fools hate knowledge?
27 when panic strikes you like a storm,
and your calamity comes like a whirlwind,
when distress and anguish come upon you.
28 Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer;
they will seek me diligently, but will not find me.
29 Because they hated knowledge
and did not choose the fear of the Lord,
30 would have none of my counsel,
and despised all my reproof,
31 therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way
and be sated with their own devices.
32 For waywardness kills the simple,
and the complacency of fools destroys them;
33 but those who listen to me will be secure
and will live at ease, without dread of disaster.”

The flip side of seeking to please the Lord and to walk in his ways is the cost of disobedience and a lack of discernment; the absence of divine insight. Too many people stumble from one adversity to another. Too many buckle under the weight of their own mistakes, even though there is a Bible in the home and they have a Christian in the family. We are now functionally ignorant in so many areas of life that our society is being stressed to breaking point. Divine help and guidance is a prayer away.
Humility and obedience can completely change our current dilemma (s).
Wisdom, the essence of the Divine, with persistence issues into immortality..!

THE PRAYERS:
The Lord be with you
And also with you.
And now, as our Saviour has taught us, let us pray
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.
V. Save your people, Lord, and bless your inheritance;
R. Govern and uphold them, now and always.
V. Day by day we bless you;
R. We praise your Name for ever.
V. Lord, keep us from all sin today;
R. Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy.
V. Lord, show us your love and mercy;
R. For we put our trust in you.

Grant us, Lord, not to be anxious about earthly things, but to love things heavenly; and even now, while we are placed among things that are passing away, to hold fast to those that shall endure; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Into your hands, Heavenly Father, we commend ourselves this day. Let your presence be with us to its close. Strengthen us to remember that in whatever good work we do we are serving you. Give us a diligent and watchful spirit, that we may seek in everything to know your will, and knowing it, may gladly perform it, to the honour and glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
