A MORNING DEVOTION

September 15,  2026                                                    YEAR 7: DAY 187

I will put my spirit within you, and make you follow my statutes and be careful to observe my ordinances.                                  Ezekiel  36:27

CPWI   413     Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer,

1 Guide me, O thou great Redeemer,

pilgrim through this barren land;

I am weak, but thou art mighty;

hold me with thy powerful hand:

Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven

feed me now and evermore.

2 Open now the crystal fountain

whence the healing stream doth flow;

let the fiery cloudy pillar

lead me all my journey through:

strong deliverer, strong deliverer,

be thou still my strength and shield.

3 When I tread the verge of Jordan,

bid my anxious fears subside;

death of death, and hell’s destruction,

land me safe on Canaan’s side:

songs and praises, songs and praises

I will ever give to thee.

Blessed be the Lord our God

By whose grace we are yet alive.

Blessed be His Son Jesus Christ

By whose rising we are set free.

Blessed be the Spirit of God

In whom is our hope and our joy.

Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought us in safety to this new day and week: We give you heartfelt thanks and praise.

Preserve us O Lord with your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin, nor be overcome by adversity; and in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose; through Jesus Christ our Lord.      Amen.

                                    Psalm 19:9-14

9 The fear of the Lord is clean and endures for ever;

the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

10 More to be desired are they than gold, more than much fine

gold, sweeter far than honey, than honey in the comb.

11 By them also is your servant enlightened,

and in keeping them there is great reward.

12 Who can tell how often he offends?

cleanse me from my secret faults.

13 Above all, keep your servant from presumptuous sins; let them

not get dominion over me; then shall I be whole and sound,

and innocent of a great offense.

14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.

GLORIA

            A READING:              Ezekiel 36:22,  27-32

22 [Therefore…]  Say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am about to act, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations to which you came.

27 I will put my spirit within you, and make you follow my statutes and be careful to observe my ordinances. 28 Then you shall live in the land that I gave to your ancestors; and you shall be my people, and I will be your God. 29 I will save you from all your uncleannesses, and I will summon the grain and make it abundant and lay no famine upon you. 30 I will make the fruit of the tree and the produce of the field abundant, so that you may never again suffer the disgrace of famine among the nations. 31 Then you shall remember your evil ways, and your dealings that were not good; and you shall loathe yourselves for your iniquities and your abominable deeds. 32 It is not for your sake that I will act, says the Lord God; let that be known to you. Be ashamed and dismayed for your ways, O house of Israel.

            The Word of the Lord.      Thanks be to GOD.

[…O God, because without you we are not able to please you...

God created us with purpose; we are made for him. If we would please him; would pursue the best options for our lives, we need his guidance and his grace. Sin which distances us from God, makes it difficult to hear and obey his word and commands.  By God’s action we can be cleansed and made whole. Instead of barrenness we can experience abundance and live in the shadow of God’s great plan for our lives…

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.…]

                                    THE PRAYERS:

The Lord be with you

And also with you.

            As our Saviour has taught us, let us pray

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come, your will be done,

on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins

as we forgive those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation

but deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power,

and the glory are yours now and for ever.    Amen.

V. Lord reveal your love among us

R. That we may know the joy of your salvation

V. Grant peace within and among all nations;

R. And teach our leaders wisdom

V. Endow your church with faithfulness

R. And her Servants with knowledge and true godliness

V. Defend, O Lord, the rights of the poor and the oppressed

R. That you justice may be known among all people.

V. Lord, renew your Spirit within us

R. That In us and through us your will be done

COLLECT                       PROPER 19

O God, because without you we are not able to please you, mercifully grant that your Holy Spirit may in all things direct and rule our hearts; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.    Amen.

O God our Father, you have bidden light to shine out of darkness,

and have awakened us again to praise your goodness and to seek

your grace; make us children of the light and of the day, that our

lives being open to your glory, we may shine as lights in the world,

through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

            Anointing, fall on me

            Anointing, set me free

            Let the power of the Holy Ghost, fall on me

            Anointing, set me free

The Dismissal:

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask or conceive, by the power which is at work among us, to Him be the glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus throughout all ages. Amen.

                                                                                Ephesians 3:20-21

The Lord be with you

And also with you.

Let us bless the Lord.

Thanks be to God.
