But the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. John 14:26
CPWI 293 Spirit Of God, Descend Upon My Heart
1 Spirit of God, descend upon my heart;
Draw it from earth; through all its pulses move;
Stoop to my weakness, mighty as thou are,
And make me love thee as I ought to love.
2 I ask no dream, no prophet ecstasies,
No sudden rending of the veil of clay,
No angel visitant, no op’ning skies;
But take the dimness of my soul away.
3 Teach me to feel that thou art always nigh;
Teach me the struggles of the soul to bear,
To check the rising doubt, the rebel sigh;
Teach me the patience of unanswered prayer.
4 Teach me to love thee as thine angels love.
One holy passion filling all my frame;
The kindling of the heav’n descended dove,
My heart an altar, and thy love the flame.
Hear us O Lord.
For your mercy is great.
We will exalt you, O God our Saviour.
And praise your name for ever and ever.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit
As it was in the beginning is now; and shall be forever. Amen.
O God our Father, you have bidden light to shine out of darkness,
and have awakened us again to praise your goodness and to seek
your grace; make us children of the light and of the day, that our
lives being open to your glory, we may shine as lights in the world,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Psalm 36:5-10
5 Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens,
and your faithfulness to the clouds.
6 Your righteousness is like the strong mountains,
your justice like the great deep;
you save both man and beast, O Lord.
7 How priceless is your love, O God!
your people take refuge under the shadow of your wings.
8 They feast upon the abundance of your house;
you give them drink from the river of your delights.
9 For with you is the well of life, and in your light we see light.
10 Continue your loving-kindness to those who know you,
and your favor to those who are true of heart.

A READING: Acts 19:1 – 7, 11-12
19 While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul passed through the interior regions and came to Ephesus, where he found some disciples. 2 He said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you became believers?” They replied, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” 3 Then he said, “Into what, then, were you baptized?” They answered, “Into John’s baptism.” 4 Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, in Jesus.” 5 On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied, 7 altogether there were about twelve of them.
11 … God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, 12 so that when the handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin were brought to the sick, their diseases left them, and the evil spirits came out of them.
The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to GOD.

Wile Apollos maintains the base church, Paul is off again proclaiming and he ends up in Ephesus in what is often cited as a ‘Mini-Pentecost’
Apostles of john the Baptist are baptised and receive the Holy Spirit, and its gifts ! The reading ends with a listing of signs and wonders done by St. Paul. This parallels the work recorded by St Peter post Pentecost. It is not intended as competition but as a sign of consistency in the work of the Spirit by those who have received its baptism and is gifts. What about you ? What is your story about life in the Spirit?

The Lord be with you
And also with you.
And now, as our Saviour has taught us, let us pray
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

COLLECT WhitSunday :: Pentecost
Almighty God, on this day you opened the way of eternal life to every race and nation by the promised gift of your Holy Spirit: Shed abroad this gift throughout the world by the preaching of the Gospel, that it may reach to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
O God of peace, you have taught us that in returning and rest we shall be saved, in quietness and confidence shall be our strength: By the might of your Spirit lift us, we pray, to your presence, where we may be still and know that you are God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Spirit of the Living God, Fall fresh on me

Spirit of the Living God, Fall fresh on me
The Dismissal:
