August 18, 2026 YEAR 7: DAY 161
To God, the only God who saves us through Jesus Christ our Lord, be the glory, majesty, authority and power, which he had before time began, now and forever. Jude 25
CPWI 359
Ye that know the Lord is gracious,
ye for whom a cornerstone
stands, of God elect and precious,
laid that ye may build thereon,
see that on that sure foundation
ye a living temple raise,
towers that may tell forth salvation,
walls that may re-echo praise.
Living stones, by God appointed
each to his allotted place,
kings and priests, by God anointed,
shall ye not declare his grace?
Ye, a royal generation,
tell the tidings of your birth,
tidings of a new creation
to an old and weary earth.
Tell the praise of him who called you
out of darkness into light,
broke the fetters that enthralled you,
gave you freedom, peace and sight:
tell the tale of sins forgiven,
strength renewed and hope restored,
till the earth, in tune with heaven,
praise and magnify the Lord.
Blessed be the Lord our God
By whose grace we are yet alive.
Blessed be His Son Jesus Christ
By whose rising we are set free.
Blessed be the Spirit of God
In whom is our hope and our joy.
God our Father, we give you thanks for this new day, for the rest of the past night; shelter in the storm; for life and hope and possibilities. We praise you for who you are, ever loving, ever faithful, forgiving us our sins and renewing us in your grace and holiness. Grant that by your Holy Spirit, we may continue in your love and service; Through Jesus Christ Lord, Amen.
Psalm 82
1 God has taken his place in the divine council;
in the midst of the gods he holds judgment:
2 “How long will you judge unjustly
and show partiality to the wicked?
3 Give justice to the weak and the orphan;
maintain the right of the lowly and the destitute.
4 Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
5 They have neither knowledge nor understanding; they walk around
in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.
6 I say, “You are gods, children of the Most High, all of you;
7 nevertheless, you shall die like mortals and fall like any prince.”
8 Rise up, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations belong to you!
GLORIA
A READING: John 10:11-18
11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 The hired hand, who is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. 13 The hired hand runs away because a hired hand does not care for the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own, and my own know me, 15 just as the Father knows me, and I know the Father. And I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. 17 For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it up again. I have received this command from my Father.”
The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to GOD.
[…Almighty God, you have given your only Son to be for us a sacrifice for sin, and also an example of godly life...
In this very well known chapter of St John’s Gospel, Jesus expounds on his connection with his Heavenly Father and with us! The natural out working of that relationship promises saving grace to us.. Building on the notions of intimacy, Our Shepherd and Guide, makes clear that ur salvation is planned and prepared for. We need only learn the Shepherd’s voice and walk in his footsteps!
… see that on that sure foundation, ye a living temple raise,

COLLECT PROPER 15
Almighty God, you have given your only Son to be for us a sacrifice for sin, and also an example of godly life: Give us grace to receive thankfully the fruits of his redeeming work, and to follow daily in the blessed steps of his most holy life; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Heavenly Father, we humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all our cares and challenges faced, we may not forget you, our strength and shield.
In the shadow of this pandemic, grant us the gift of your presence, that we may find hope and new life in you. Grant that within the boundaries set for us, we may find mutual benefit and true fellowship, and that we may experience health and wholeness as you intend; through Jesus Christ, our risen Lord. Amen.
And now as our Saviour has taught us, let us pray
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in his wonderful face
And the things of the earth will go strangely dim
In the light of his beauty and grace!
The Dismissal:
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellow-ship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all now and for evermore. Amen. 2 Corinthians 13:14
The Lord be with you
And also with you.
Let us bless the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
