EDITORIAL: What if the Trump administration had shot down that Bahamian plane?

May 19, 2026

There was a Bahamian plane that went down with a wanted drug trafficker on board. Thank God he was not known to have been on board before the plane went down and was captured along with the other survivors rescued, but what if he was known to be on board that plane?

Considering the war on narcoterrorism the Trump administration has embarked upon, what if it would have been shot down with all of the people on board? Remember, the Trump team was not really taking a personal inventory on who was on board those suspected drug boats coming from Venezuela when they were destroyed. What if that plane was just another target by the US military in their ongoing war?

Those on board that downed plane should consider themselves fortunate in more ways than one. God was with them.

Along with following the larger story of the high ranking politician involved in the drug trafficker that was caught, the larger geopolitical issue of Trump administration fallout would have been too much for any Caribbean country to bear. It was okay when they were bombing Venezuelans down south, but if it had happened in the Caribbean and Middle Atlantic seas, what could we have done but weep for the dead and be agitated?

May God put an end to the drug trafficking in the Caribbean. By any means necessary.
