EDITORIAL: Regional representation at UN diverse!

September 27, 2022

From the choice pieces of United Nations General Assembly speeches we have to offer in this Tuesday’s edition of the magazine we see how our leaders geared up and hit at the various different topics that are affecting the region. This is good, because we need to triage on these issues in any event- Plus, there is a lot to make known to the world about our countries.

Climate change issues is first and foremost. The world must hear of the struggle again and again. They must stop their heavy CO2 emissions or else us and our children and their children will not have a country to be proud of, because it will be underwater. Please keep the pressure on.

We also had a reminder that Venezuela and Cuba are still a part of this region and the US should open the door for dialogue for those countries. This magazine is not a fan of the Nicholas Maduro regime, but I think he has made his point that he is at least the legitimate leader of Venezuela- work with him. Cuba, on the other hand, I don’t have a strong opinion on it. Fidel Castro is dead and so the country is where it wants to be now. There is no aggression like how it was during the Cold War, so open up the dialogue.

Then we had the reminder of the need to have correspondent banking sorted out. Simply put, we need international banking. How did this movement of moving banking out of the Caribbean got so far?

There is most likely a lot more, but the team here at CMP did a great job with giving you some of the better speeches.
