March 17, 2026 YEAR 7:DAY 007
Let me hear of your loving kindness in the morning, for I put my trust in you. Teach me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Ps.143:8
CPWI 120 I Hunger And I Thirst
1 I hunger and I thirst:
Jesu, my manna be;
ye living waters, burst
out of the rock for me.
2 Thou bruised and broken Bread,
my life-long wants supply;
as living souls are fed,
O feed me, or I die.
3 Thou true life-giving Vine,
let me thy sweetness prove;
renew my life with thine,
refresh my soul with love.
4 Rough paths my feet have trod
since first their course began:
feed me, thou Bread of God;
help me, thou Son of Man.
5 For still the desert lies
my thirsting soul before:
O living waters, rise
within me evermore.
Hear us O Lord.
For your mercy is great.
We will exalt you, O God our Saviour.
And praise your name for ever and ever.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit
As it was in the beginning is now; and shall be forever. Amen.
Father, we come together in the Name of your Son Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, to offer you our worship, praise and thanksgiving. To you belong all power and glory. You are the source of all goodness. Let our worship bear witness to your peace and saving power. Through your Spirit may we ever rejoice in the abiding presence of our risen and ascended Lord. Amen.
Psalm 80:5 – 7, 18 – 28
5God established a decree in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel,
which he commanded our ancestors to teach to their children,
6 that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn,
and rise up and tell them to their children,
7 so that they should set their hope in God,
and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments;
18 Israel tested God in their heart by demanding the food they craved.
19 They spoke against God, saying,
“Can God spread a table in the wilderness?
20 Even though he struck the rock so that water gushed out and torrents overflowed, can he also give bread or provide meat for his people?”
21 Therefore, when the Lord heard, he was full of rage; a fire was kindled against Jacob, his anger mounted against Israel,
22 because they had no faith in God and did not trust his saving power.
23 Yet he commanded the skies above and opened the doors of heaven;
24 he rained down on them manna to eat and gave them the grain of heaven.
25 Mortals ate of the bread of angels; he sent them food in abundance.
26 He caused the east wind to blow in the heavens,
and by his power he led out the south wind;
27 he rained flesh upon them like dust,
winged birds like the sand of the seas;
28 he let them fall within their camp, all around their dwellings.

A READING: Exodus 16:11 – 18
11 The Lord spoke to Moses, 12 “I have heard the complaining of the Israelites; say to them, ‘At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall have your fill of bread; then you shall know that I am the Lord your God.’ ”
13 In the evening quails came up and covered the camp, and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp. 14 When the layer of dew lifted, there on the surface of the wilderness was a fine flaky substance, as fine as frost on the ground. 15 When the Israelites saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. Moses said to them, “It is the bread that the Lord has given you to eat. 16 This is what the Lord has commanded: Gather as much of it as each of you needs, an omer per person according to the number of persons, all providing for those in their own tents.” 17 The Israelites did so, some gathering more, some less. 18 But when they measured it with an omer, those who gathered much had nothing over, and those who gathered little had no shortage; they gathered as much as each of them needed.
The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to GOD.

The provision of Manna in the wilderness for the Israelites is a central memory in the Scriptures, a founding moment , a measuring stone in the history of God’s people.
The event is recorded in Exodus and echoed in other places, fulfilling the command that it be taught to future generations. We often expect ‘miracles’ to happen in a moment, but this is a forty year long, divinely finessed, micro managed miracle, that lasted until Israel had crossed over in to the land of Promise. The faithful God kept it flowing, even as they sinned and were punished for other offenses. More tomorrow…
…Those who gathered much had nothing over, and those who gathered little had no shortage; they gathered as much as each of them needed….]
THE PRAYERS:
The Lord be with you
And also with you.
And now, as our Saviour has taught us, let us pray
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.
V. Save your people, Lord, and bless your inheritance;
R. Govern and uphold them, now and always.
V. Day by day we bless you;
R. We praise your Name for ever.
V. Lord, keep us from all sin today;
R. Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy.
V. Lord, show us your love and mercy;
R. For we put our trust in you.
V. In you, Lord, is our hope;
R. And we shall never hope in vain.
COLLECT LENT IV
Gracious Father, whose blessed Son Jesus Christ came down from heaven to be the true bread which gives life to the world: Evermore give us this bread, that he may live in us, and we in him; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Be with us, Lord in all our prayers, and direct our way towards the attainment of salvation; that among the changes and chances of this mortal life, we may always be defended by your gracious help.
Kindle in every heart, we pray, the true love of peace, and guide with your wisdom those who take counsel for the nations of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Your grace and mercy, brought us through
We’re living this moment because of you
We want to thank you, and praise you too
Your grace and mercy, brought us through.
The Dismissal:
May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Romans 15:13
