How can we care about Haiti when it doesn’t even care about itself? They can’t control their own community gangs to protect their own children, so how can the international community get in the middle of their community issues?
There was a brief spasm of strength when the locals began rounding up suspected gang leaders and holding them for police officers, but that is not the way you go about cleaning up your local streets.
No international peace keeping body can assist with this either. The task is not easy. We just hope that regular Haitians can get a hold of their communities through peace and love.
What Haiti needs is to hold elections and select a leader to run the country. This would be a great start to the national healing and cleaning up the mess left in the wake of the last few years.
