EDITORIAL: What are they feeding us?

November 7, 2025

We are concerned about the processed food they serve to our people in the region. There is something in the food. While we are not health specialists, we are going on what happens to our bodies when we are forced to consume certain safe foods, even vegetables and meats like chicken.

Those of us who have had the fortune of living abroad, hopefully further than the US southern belt, we would notice that there is a difference in the texture and quality of the foods. They seem lighter and less fattening; that’s the first thing. The food also has a different taste to it. It also puts less weight on you.

What are they sending us poor non-white folks in the Caribbean to eat? Reading the latest FAO report we must be concerned about letting another generation of young people follow behind consuming dangerous foods and whatever chemicals they put in them.

We must be very firm with our quality and control inspections on the poison they are putting in our food and food sources.

We worry about drugs, guns and violence. But we have to be careful of the assault on our health by the very foods we import and are allowed to consume through the chemicals that preserve them.

Be alert.
