EDITORIAL: Hurricane Season starts June 1

May 30, 2025

Get prepared for this year’s hurricane season. The season starts on June 1, and while predictions have it that it would be a moderately softer season than prior years, yet still we encourage all people to take the necessary precautions.

If you have not done so then please, see to it that all of your electronics have proper charging materials, whether they are batteries or some other form to keep them charged up for at least 12 hours.

Examine your dwelling and ensure that the perimeter is secured and there is no debris laying about that can take flight if the winds pick up beyond 80 mph.

If you need to go to a shelter if things get a little hairy, please, look into it. If you can, put your name on an evacuation list and secure a spot when the time comes.

We can’t stop hurricanes, but we can do what we can to secure ourselves and minimize the loss to life and loss to property.
