The Caribbean must continue its push for progress for all of its citizens, from The Bahamas to Trinidad, to Cuba to Haiti, we all must evolve together.
Gone are the days when we handle our problems ourselves as individual states. We must see our individual problems as part of a wider regional issue. It is only then can we begin to get at the root of the issues and craft a solution that can be spread from state to state in these islands.
We must come together and mark any progress made in another state. For example, the work being done on climate mitigation financing must be a shared burden by all member states. It is a problem we all share and must work diligently to ensure we receive better treatment for climate financing arrangements.
Also, anti-firearm policies. The proliferation of firearms have brought untold destruction and death to all of our countries. We do not manufacture guns, so we must speak with forceful clarity on how guns are brought into the region to kill our citizens.
We must continue to make progress on these issues. We will make progress on these issues.
