A MORNING DEVOTION

February 09, 2026                                                          Year 6:Day 338

The Lord has declared his salvation. His righteousness he has openly displayed for all the nations to see.                           Psalm 98:3

            CPWI  413       Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer,

1 Guide me, O thou great Redeemer,

pilgrim through this barren land;

I am weak, but thou art mighty;

hold me with thy powerful hand:

Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven

feed me now and evermore.

2 Open now the crystal fountain

whence the healing stream doth flow;

let the fiery cloudy pillar

lead me all my journey through:

strong deliverer, strong deliverer,

be thou still my strength and shield

                        3 When I tread the verge of Jordan,

                        bid my anxious fears subside;

                        death of death, and hell’s destruction,

                        land me safe on Canaan’s side:

                        songs and praises, songs and praises

                        I will ever give to thee.

Blessed be the Lord our God

By whose grace we are yet alive.

Blessed be His Son Jesus Christ

By whose rising we are set free.

Blessed be the Spirit of God

In whom is our hope and our joy.

Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought us in safety to this new day and week: We give you heartfelt thanks and praise.

Preserve us O Lord with your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin, nor be overcome by adversity; and in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose; through Jesus Christ our Lord.       Amen.

Psalm                           106

1 Praise the Lord!  O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,

for his steadfast love endures forever.

2 Who can utter the mighty doings of the Lord or declare

all his praise?

3 Happy are those who observe justice, who do righteousness at all times.

4 Remember us, O Lord, when you show favor to your people;

help us when you deliver them,

5 that we may see the prosperity of your chosen ones,  that we may rejoice in the gladness of your nation,  that we may glory in your heritage.

6 Both we and our ancestors have sinned;

we have committed iniquity, have done wickedly.

7 Our ancestors, when they were in Egypt, did not consider your wonderful works; they did not remember the abundance of your

steadfast love but rebelled against the Most High at the Red Sea.

8 Yet he saved them for his name’s sake,

so that he might make known his mighty power.

9 He rebuked the Red Sea, and it became dry;

he led them through the deep as through a desert.

10 So he saved them from the hand of the foe

A READING:              DANIEL  9:11,  15 – 19a

Daniel said…

11 “All Israel has transgressed your law and turned aside, refusing to obey your voice. So the curse and the oath written in the law of Moses, the servant of God, have been poured out upon us because we have sinned against you…

15 …“And now, O Lord our God, who brought your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and made your name renowned even to this day—we have sinned, we have done wickedly. 16 O Lord, in view of all your righteous acts, let your anger and wrath, we pray, turn away from your city Jerusalem, your holy mountain; because of our sins and the iniquities of our ancestors, Jerusalem and your people have become a disgrace among all our neighbors. 17 Now therefore, O our God, listen to the prayer of your servant and to his supplication, and for your own sake, Lord, let your face shine upon your desolated sanctuary. 18 Incline your ear, O my God, and hear. Open your eyes and look at our desolation and the city that bears your name. We do not present our supplication before you on the ground of our righteousness but on the ground of your great mercies. 19 O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, listen and act and do not delay!

            The Word of the Lord.             Thanks be to GOD.

[…Set us free, O God, from the bondage of our sins…

God’s great act of deliverance for Israel when he brought them out of Egypt, remains the cornerstone of the nations loyalty to the Lord, their God. It is mentioned time and again it is a reference point a spiritual marker laid down for posterity. Both the prophet Daniel and the Psalmist

point to the exodus and  confess the sins of the people over and against God’s faithfulness More than that, it was also the touchstone for mercy and grace  as they hoped and prayed for God’s healing and renewal.

…Help us when you deliver them, that we may see the prosperity of your chosen ones,  that we may rejoice in the gladness of your nation,

that we may glory in your heritage…]
