November 2, 2026 Year 6:Day 238
Jesus said: ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.’ John 11:25-26
CPWI 413 Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer,
1 Guide me, O thou great Redeemer,
pilgrim through this barren land;
I am weak, but thou art mighty;
hold me with thy powerful hand:
Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven
feed me now and evermore.
2 Open now the crystal fountain
whence the healing stream doth flow;
let the fiery cloudy pillar
lead me all my journey through:
strong deliverer, strong deliverer,
be thou still my strength and shield.
3 When I tread the verge of Jordan,
bid my anxious fears subside;
death of death, and hell’s destruction,
land me safe on Canaan’s side:
songs and praises, songs and praises
I will ever give to thee.
Hear us O Lord.
For your mercy is great.
We will exalt you, O God our Saviour.
And praise your name for ever and ever.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit
As it was in the beginning is now; and shall be forever. Amen.
Heavenly Father, in your Son Jesus Christ you have given us a true faith and a sure hope. Strengthen this faith and hope in us all our days, that we may live as those who believe and trust in the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, and the resurrection to eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Psalm 130
1 Out of the depths have I called to you, O Lord; Lord, hear my voice; *
let your ears consider well the voice of my supplication.
2 If you, Lord, were to note what is done amiss, *
O Lord, who could stand?
3 For there is forgiveness with you; * therefore you shall be feared.
4 I wait for the Lord; my soul waits for him; *
in his word is my hope.
5 My soul waits for the Lord, more than watchmen for the morning, *
more than watchmen for the morning.
6 O Israel, wait for the Lord, * for with the Lord there is mercy;
7 With him there is plenteous redemption, *
and he shall redeem Israel from all their sins.

A READING: Wisdom 3:1–5, 9
But the souls of the righteous are in the hand of God,
and no torment will ever touch them.
In the eyes of the foolish they seemed to have died,
and their departure was thought to be a disaster,
and their going from us to be their destruction;
but they are at peace.
For though in the sight of others they were punished,
their hope is full of immortality.
Having been disciplined a little, they will receive great good,
because God tested them and found them worthy of himself.
Those who trust in him will understand truth,
and the faithful will abide with him in love,
because grace and mercy are upon his holy ones,
and he watches over his elect.
The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to GOD.
HYMN: 817
1 By all your saints still striving,
for all Your saints at rest,
Your holy Name, O Jesus,
for ever more be blessed.
You rose, our King victorious,
that they might bear the crown
And ever shine in splendor
reflected from Your throne.
2 Apostles, prophets, martyrs
and all the joyful throng
who wear the spotless raiment
and raise the ceaseless song
for them and those whose witness
is only known to you —
by walking in their footsteps
we give you praise anew.
3 Then let us praise the Father
And worship God the Son
And sing to God the Spirit,
Eternal Three in One,
Till all the ransomed number
Who stand before the throne
Ascribe all power and glory
And praise to God alone.
FINAL READING Ephesians 1:15-23
I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, and for this reason I do not cease to give thanks for you as I remember you in my prayers. I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him, so that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power for us who believe, according to the working of his great power. God put this power to work in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the age to come. And he has put all things under his feet and has made him the head over all things for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to GOD.
[…O God, before whose face the generations rise and pass away…
Many of us have lost loved ones in the year past. Whether from COVID or AIDS or the pandemic of Violence, our hearts still hurt and out tears still fall. Despite the oft quoted, ‘ It is appointed for man once to die and then the judgment,’ those who have passed can still be remembered before God, simply because love never ends. Jairus hoped for the best, as he brought Jesus to his home. Mary and Martha still asked Jesus for help although Lazarus had passed. We never stop loving and we don’t stop caring.
Today’s devotion offers a formal space to remember our loved ones in worship and to lift them up to the throne of grace. Please share it with others where it may be of benefit.
…In the eyes of the foolish they seemed to have died,
and their going from us to be their destruction; but they are at peace…]
The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen
THE PRAYERS:
The Lord be with you
And also with you.
And now, as our Saviour has taught us, let us pray
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.
V. Lord reveal your love among us
R. That we may know the joy of your salvation
V. Grant peace within and among all nations;
R. And teach our leaders wisdom
V. Endow your church with faithfulness
R. And her Servants with knowledge and true godliness
V. Defend, O Lord, the rights of the poor and the oppressed
R. That your justice may be known among all people.
V. Lord, renew your Spirit within us
R. That In us and through us your will be done
COLLECT ALL SAINTS **(You may name your loved ones here.)
Almighty God, you have knit together your elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of your Son Christ our Lord: Give us grace so to follow your blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to those ineffable joys that you have prepared for those who truly love you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
O God, before whose face the generations rise and pass away, the strength of those who labour and the repose of the holy blessed dead: We remember before you, all who have faithfully lived and died :
(especially. . . . . . . .**)
Lift us into life and love and give us our portion with those who have trusted in you and striven to do your will. And to your Name, with the Church on earth and in heaven, we ascribe all honour and glory, world without end. Amen.
