October 26, 2026 Year 6:Day 231
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy we have been born anew to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Peter I :3
CPWI 384 Praise to the Lord, the Almighty
1 Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation;
O my soul, praise him, for he is thy health and salvation:
all ye who hear,
now to his temple draw near,
joining in glad adoration.
2 Praise to the Lord, who o’er all things so wondrously reigneth,
shieldeth thee gently from harm, or when fainting sustaineth:
hast thou not seen
how thy heart’s wishes have been
granted in what he ordaineth?
3 Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee;
surely his goodness and mercy shall daily attend thee:
ponder anew
what the Almighty can do,
if to the end he befriend thee.
4 Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him!
All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before him!
Let the Amen
sound from his people again:
gladly for aye we adore him!
Hear us O Lord.
For your mercy is great.
We will exalt you, O God our Saviour.
And praise your name for ever and ever.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit
As it was in the beginning is now; and ever shall be forever. Amen.
O God, the King eternal, whose light divides the day from the night and turns the shadow of death into the morning: Drive far from us all wrong desires, incline our hearts to keep your law, and guide our feet into the way of peace; that, having done your will with cheerfulness during the day, we may, when night comes, rejoice to give you thanks; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Psalm 123
1 Happy are those whose way is blameless,
who walk in the law of the Lord.
2 Happy are those who keep his decrees,
who seek him with their whole heart,
3 who also do no wrong, but walk in his ways.
4 You have commanded your precepts to be kept diligently.
5 O that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes!
6 Then I shall not be put to shame,
having my eyes fixed on all your commandments.
7 I will praise you with an upright heart,
when I learn your righteous ordinances.
8 I will observe your statutes; do not utterly forsake me.

A READING: 1 Corinthians 12:31 – 13:13
Strive for the greater gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way.
13 If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give away all my possessions, and if I hand over my body so that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. 7 It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never ends. But as for prophecies, they will come to an end; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will come to an end. 9 For we know only in part, and we prophesy only in part; 10 but when the complete comes, the partial will come to an end. 11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became an adult, I put an end to childish ways. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known. 13 And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love.
The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to GOD.
[ … increase in us the gifts of faith, hope, and charity …
Undoubtedly, the ‘Collect of the Week’ is rooted in the iconic and eternal passage shared above. St. Paul has traveled a long way though religion and prejudice and discipline, to uncover the primacy of love. He has pushed pass intellectual and religious pride and considered their benefits as inferior to the LOVE he had come to know in Jesus Christ, his Lord. And yet, his analysis, offered in thirteen verses, depends on all that he had explored and discarded! There is a reason Our Lord met him on the Damascus road. At the time, none of the other disciples could bring to the church, the combined academic and religious zeal that could fuel a trip through real life, and real faith!, to extract the amazing things Paul has recorded. To GOD be the Glory!

THE PRAYERS:
The Lord be with you

As our Saviour has taught us, let us pray
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.

Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.
V. Lord reveal your love among us
