I guess this is where we would begin to hear the cries from smaller nations about how the US thinks it is the world police. What it is doing to former president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, should be very clear and present about who the world’s only super power is and who has the moral authority.
However, while Maduro is being charged with the torture of his own people in Venezuela by a New York court, the International Court of Justice has not come forth to condemn the US for doing the work they should be doing and what they were constituted for.
What we are seeing is the Donald Trump administration putting back in place what he believed used to be American superiority over other nations. That level of moral authority that helped see the world past the ravages of World War 2 into the 21st Century with the building of the great international institutions from the ICJ to the United Nations and the multi-lateral development agencies.
The great international rebalancing will continue. Other world leaders should be reconsidering their relationship with the US because I do not believe this is Trump’s doing or machinations alone. This may be US policy moving forward for the foreseeable future.
Be ye warned.
