The US military is still bombing suspected drug boats well after the capture of the now ousted former president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro.
The Caribbean seas will never be fully done with the scourge of drug trafficking as long as there is ample supply in South America and willing customers in North America and Europe.
The Caribbean is a major transhipment point and with many different borders and maritime passageways into the open seas, it is an age-old epidemic and problem.
The bombing of suspected narcotraffickers, while crude, is the only thing that may be able to be done to deter these traffickers.
There is a misconception that the drugs don’t stay in the Caribbean and rather just pass through. That is not true.
There are generational individuals dating back to the late 1970s to now of people who are addicted to narcotics. The sad state of affairs can be seen on the streets on a daily basis of people, both young and old, who are woefully addicted to drugs and are living desperately substandard lives.
Something has to be done. Something is being done. Some just don’t like what is being done.
