CPWI 005 New Every Morning…
1 New every morning is the love
our wakening and uprising prove;
through sleep and darkness safely brough40t,
restored to life and power and thought.
2 New mercies, each returning day,
hover around us while we pray;
new perils past, new sins forgiven,
new thoughts of God, new hopes of heaven.
3 If on our daily course our mind
be set to hallow all we find,
new treasures still, of countless price,
God will provide for sacrifice.
4 The trivial round, the common task,
will furnish all we need to ask,
room to deny ourselves, a road
to bring us daily nearer God.
5 Only, O Lord, in thy dear love
fit us for perfect rest above;
and help us, this and every day,
to live more nearly as we pray.
Hear us O Lord.
For your mercy is great.
We will exalt you, O God our Saviour.
And praise your name for ever and ever.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit
As it was in the beginning is now; and shall be forever. Amen.
Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought us in safety to this new day and week: We give you heartfelt thanks and praise.
Preserve us O Lord with your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin, nor be overcome by adversity; and in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
PSALM 126
1 When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion,
we were like those who dream.
2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter and our tongue with
shouts of joy; then it was said among the nations,
“The Lord has done great things for them.”
3 The Lord has done great things for us, and we rejoiced.
4 Restore our fortunes, O Lord, like the watercourses in the Negeb.
5 May those who sow in tears reap with shouts of joy.
6 Those who go out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing,
shall come home with shouts of joy, carrying their sheaves.

A READING: Sirach 41:1-4
1 O death, how bitter is the thought of you
to one at peace among possessions,
who has nothing to worry about and is prosperous in everything,
and still is vigorous enough to enjoy food!
2 O death, how welcome is your sentence to one who is needy
and failing in strength, worn down by age and anxious about
everything; to one who is contrary, and has lost all patience!
3 Do not fear death’s decree for you;
remember those who went before you and those who will come after.
4 This is the Lord’s decree for all flesh; why then should you reject the will of the Most High? Whether life lasts for ten years or a hundred or a thousand, there are no questions asked in Hades.

In a chapter end to end with pain and dismay and grievance, we find this passage of hope. The prophet Jeremiah conjures it up, or better still, hears a word of promise from the Lord and writes it down for posterity.
No matter what happens to us; ‘great is your faithfulness…’ Proven, time and again!
For the Lord will not reject forever… He will have compassion
according to the abundance of his steadfast love…]
THE PRAYERS:
The Lord be with you
And also with you.
And now, as our Saviour has taught us, let us pray
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.
V. Lord reveal your love among us
R. That we may know the joy of your salvation
V. Grant peace within and among all nations;
R. And teach our leaders wisdom
V. Endow your church with faithfulness
