EDITORIAL: Thank God for this quiet hurricane season

August 14, 2026

We just have to thank God that this projected soft hurricane season is shaping up to be exactly what it was said it was going to be, very inactive.

We have had some systems brewing this year, but they have not come close to touching any land or doing any damage at all.

We are forever grateful. Sometimes it is that way where we can go for an extended span of months during the hurricane season only for one to show up at the end of September or so and totally shock us.

We pray that does not happen this year. We sincerely hope the Caribbean and Central American region is spared from any hurricane this year.

Jamaica has not gotten over hurricane Melissa from October, 2025. The Bahamas is still suffering from the effects from Dorian in 2019.

Let us keep our eyes focused on preparedness regardless of how the season is forecasted to be inactive.
