August 13, 2026 YEAR 7: DAY 156
Let me hear of your loving kindness in the morning for I put my trust in you: Show me the road that I must walk for I lift up my soul to you. Psalm 143:8
CPWI 382 Come, Let Us Join Our Cheerful Songs
1 Come, let us join our cheerful songs
with angels round the throne;
ten thousand thousand are their tongues,
but all their joys are one.
2 ‘Worthy the Lamb that died,’ they cry,
‘to be exalted thus’;
‘Worthy the Lamb,’ our lips reply,
‘for he was slain for us.’
3 Jesus is worthy to receive
honour and power divine;
and blessings, more than we can give,
be, Lord, for ever thine.
4 let all creation join in one
to bless the sacred name
of him that sits upon the throne,
and to adore the Lamb
Hear us, O Lord
For your mercy is great.
We will exalt you, O God our Saviour,
And praise your name forever.
Glory to the Father and to the Son: and to the Holy Spirit;
As it was in the beginning is now, and shall be forever. Amen
O God, the King eternal, whose light divides the day from the night and turns the shadow of death into the morning: Drive far from us all wrong desires, incline our hearts to keep your law, and guide our feet into the way of peace; that, having done your will with cheerfulness during the day, we may, when night comes, rejoice to give you thanks; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
CANTICLE Jubilate Psalm 100
O shout to the Lord in triumph all the earth:
serve the Lord with gladness,
and come before His face with songs of joy.
Know that the Lord He is God:*
it is He who has made us and we are His,
we are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Come into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise:* give thanks to Him and bless His holy Name.
For the Lord is good, His loving mercy is forever:*
His faithfulness throughout all generations.

A READING: JOHN 15:4-7
4 Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing. 6 Whoever does not abide in me is thrown away like a branch and withers; such branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7 If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to GOD.
[…that we, who cannot exist without you, may by you be enabled to live according to your will…
In the end, our salvation is found in the Lord Jesus Christ, in our obedience and faithfulness to the task given to us by our God and Father, through him. We must be grounded in Christ, drawing our life and necessities from him, just as plants draw their substance from the soil. His word and commandments give life and health and purpose to our lives. There are levels to this and we can journey into eternity without reaching our limits in Christ Jesus our Lord.
… ‘Worthy the Lamb that died,’ they cry, ‘to be exalted thus’;
‘Worthy the Lamb,’ our lips reply, ‘for he was slain for us…’ ]
THE PRAYERS:
The Lord be with you
And also with you.
V. Show us your mercy, O Lord;

V. Clothe your ministers with righteousness;
R. Let your people sing with joy.
V. Give peace, O Lord, in all the world;
R. For only in you can we live in safety.
V. Lord, keep this nation under your care;
R. And guide us in the way of justice and truth.
V. Let your way be known upon earth;
R. Your saving health among all nations.
V. Let not the needy, O Lord, be forgotten;
R. Nor the hope of the poor be taken away.
V. Create in us clean hearts, O God;
R. And sustain us with your Holy Spirit.
COLLECT PROPER 14
Grant to us, Lord, we pray, the spirit to think and do always those things that are right, that we, who cannot exist without you, may by you be enabled to live according to your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
As our Saviour has taught us, let us pray
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.
Direct us, O Lord, in all our doings with your most gracious favor, and further us with your continual help; that in all our works begun, continued, and ended in you, we may glorify your holy Name, and finally, by your mercy, obtain everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Yes Lord yes! To your will and to your way.
Yes Lord yes! I will answer and obey
When your spirit speaks to me,
with my whole heart I’ll agree
and my answer will be Yes Lord. Yes!
The Dismissal:
May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Romans 15:13
The Lord be with you
And also with you.
Let us bless the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
