EDITORIAL: Can we get back to Haiti?

Now that we have squared away Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro, maybe the rest of the Americas can get back to the longstanding problem in Haiti.

We have forgotten that Haiti still has not had an election. The country is still in turmoil and in desperate need of a change in their fortunes.

While Venezuela presented an extraordinary challenge for the Caribbean and Central America, but Haiti is a long running great shame for the Western World.

From their breakaway from France, to their run of dictators and strongmen leaders, to the assassination of their last democratically elected President, the people have been suffering for generations.

We call on all people with power and authority to turn their eyes back to Haiti.
