A MORNING DEVOTION
November 28, 2025 Year 6:Day 263
For the God who said, “Out of darkness light shall shine,” has caused his light to shine in our hearts, the light which is knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. II Corinthians 4:6

CPWI 387
1 To God be the glory, great things he hath done:
so loved he the world that he gave us his son,
who yielded his life an atonement for sin,
and opened the lifegate that all may go in.

Refrain:
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the earth hear his voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
and give him the glory, great things he hath done.

2 Oh, perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
to ev’ry believer the promise of God.
The vilest offender who truly believes,
that moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

3 Great things he hath taught us, great things he hath done,
and great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son,
but purer, and higher, and greater will be
our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

Blessed be the Lord our God
By whose grace we are yet alive.

Blessed be His Son Jesus Christ
By whose rising we are set free.

Blessed be the Spirit of God
In whom is our hope and our joy.

Father, we come together in the Name of your Son Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, to offer you our worship, praise and thanksgiving. To you belong all power and glory. You are the source of all goodness. Let our worship bear witness to your peace and saving power. Through your Spirit may we ever rejoice in the abiding presence of our risen and ascended Lord. Amen.

    Psalm 2:1-8

1 Why are the nations in an uproar?
Why do the peoples mutter empty threats?
2 Why do the kings of the earth rise up in revolt, and the princes
plot together against the Lord and against his Anointed?
3 “Let us break their yoke,” they say;
“let us cast off their bonds from us.”
4 He whose throne is in heaven is laughing;
the Lord has them in derision.
5 Then he speaks to them in his wrath,
and his rage fills them with terror.
6 “I myself have set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.”
7 Let me announce the decree of the Lord:
he said to me, “You are my Son; this day have I begotten you.
8 Ask of me, and I will give you the nations for your inheritance
and the ends of the earth for your possession.

A READING:      ISAIAH  9:2-7

2 The people who walk in darkness will see a great light;
Those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them.
3 You will multiply the nation, You will increase their joy;
They will rejoice in Your presence as with the joy of harvest,
As people rejoice when they divide the spoils.
4 For You will break the yoke of their burden and the staff on their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor, as at the battle of Midian.
5 For every boot of the marching warrior in the roar of battle,
And cloak rolled in blood, will be for burning, fuel for the fire.
6 For a Child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us;
And the government will rest on His shoulders;
And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
7 There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace
On the throne of David and over his kingdom,
To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness
From then on and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of armies will accomplish this.

The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to GOD.

[…that the peoples of the earth, divided and enslaved by sin, may be freed and brought together under his most gracious rule;…
Centuries before the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, The prophet Isaiah saw and recorded the coming of the messiah . He saw it all! The birth of the special child; the incomparable wisdom; the authority of his presence and speaking! He saw the anointed and the power that would be handed to the future Messiah. Best of all, he saw that it was to be a global government. The Messiah, from the lone of David, would lead Jews and Gentiles with righteousness and justice. All of it. All of it has come to pass! St John the Divine and St Paul have seen it beyond our planet! They have been to heaven and seen the glory of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

…They will rejoice in Your presence as with the joy of harvest,
As people rejoice when they divide the spoils..]

         THE PRAYERS:

The Lord be with you
And also with you.
As our Saviour has taught us, let us pray
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

V. Lord reveal your love among us
R. That we may know the joy of your salvation
V. Grant peace within and among all nations;
R. And teach our leaders wisdom
V. Endow your church with faithfulness
R. And her Servants with knowledge and true godliness
V. Defend, O Lord, the rights of the poor and the oppressed
R. That your justice may be known among all people.
V. Lord, renew your Spirit within us
R. That in us and through us your will be done

COLLECT                 PROPER   29

Almighty and everlasting God, whose will it is to restore all things in your well-beloved Son, the King of kings and Lord of lords: Mercifully grant that the peoples of the earth, divided and enslaved by sin, may be freed and brought together under his most gracious rule; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Direct us, O Lord, in all our doings with your most gracious favor, and further us with your continual help; that in all our works begun, continued, and ended in you, we may glorify your holy Name, and finally, by your mercy, obtain everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Closer than a brother, my Jesus is to me
He’s my dearest friend in every thing I need
He’s my rock, My shield and hiding place
Closer than a brother, Jesus is to me.

The Dismissal:

May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Romans 15:13

The Lord be with you
And also with you.

Let us bless the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
