EDITORIAL: Keep it moving

The Caribbean is one of the most interesting places in the world, from Guyana and Suriname on the South American continent to our cousins in Bermuda who happen to think they are not “Caribbean.”

All of us have one thing in common, most of us were brought here as slaves. And to that it makes us kin, whether we want to acknowledge it or not.

So how do we build a more inclusive region where all of us can share our experiences, our losses and gains and how we can overcome similar challenges.

The truth is, we need more open forums between each other. More regional forums for not just the hot-shot folks, but also for regular folks, regardless of what it is. From poetry competitions to zoom meetings with shared civic organisations like Kiwanis or Toastmasters, we need to continually build the bridges that bind us.

We have done a good job so far, but we also need to do more and continue to build up the common life.

With all that is going on in the world, let the Caribbean be the beacon of hope, togetherness and peace.
